NDA EXAM 2025

 NDA Exam Age Limit

Introduction

The National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is one of the most prestigious competitive examinations in India, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Every year, thousands of candidates appear for this exam with the dream of serving the nation. To ensure that candidates are physically and mentally fit to undergo rigorous training, UPSC has set specific eligibility criteria, among which the age limit plays a crucial role. Understanding the NDA exam age criteria is essential for aspirants to determine their eligibility and plan their preparation accordingly.

NDA Age Limit Criteria

  • The age limit for candidates is generally between 16.5 years to 19.5 years at the time of commencement of the course. This means that only candidates who fall within this age range are eligible to apply.

  • Candidates must not be younger than 16.5 years.

  • Candidates must not have reached 19.5 years of age at the time of joining the academy.

  • UPSC also specifies the date of birth range in the official notification for both NDA I and NDA II. Candidates need to ensure that their date of birth, as mentioned in the matriculation or secondary school certificate, matches the prescribed limits.

  • There is no age relaxation for any category, including SC, ST, or OBC. The age criteria remain uniform for all applicants.

  • Candidates appearing for the NDA exam must be unmarried and male or female, as both genders are eligible to apply.

  • Fulfilling the age limit is mandatory; otherwise, the application will be rejected even if other eligibility requirements are met.

Conclusion

The NDA exam age limit ensures that only young and eligible candidates get the opportunity to undergo defence training and serve the nation. Since the training at NDA is physically and mentally demanding, this age bracket helps in selecting candidates at their prime youth stage. Aspirants must carefully check the official UPSC notification for the exact date of birth range before applying. Meeting the NDA age requirement is the first step toward achieving the honourable dream of joining the Indian Armed Forces.
